I saw our students lay hands on filthy men, serve boxes of food to young families, and talk and laugh with people who they would normally be told to stay away from. I saw Jesus in our students that weekend.

In eleven years of full-time youth ministry, I have taken youth on many types of mission trips. The most effective mission work is in our own backyard. By the end of the Urban Plunge weekend, the youth were already talking about plans of how they wanted to continue ministry to the downtown area. We went where Jesus would hang out.

We took a group of 8th grade students on the Urban Plunge and they loved it. Their eyes are opened to the needs around them, where God is already working, and it helps them discover their gifts and passions. I would highly recommend this trip.

A thousand thanks for hosting the amazing-ness known as the Urban Plunge! Our faith was challenged, our hearts were moved, and our hope was restored. Now, a group of kids have been inspired to go where God is, and join Him there.

Within the first few hours of Urban Plunge, we were out on the streets handing out juice and cookies and even praying with people on the street. What a joy to see our 13 year olds standing side by side with drug addicts praying with them.

Wow that is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this past weekend experience. We were able to see how we, too, can make a difference in the lives of people.

The Urban Plunge was beyond what I imagined. Many times, people go on a mission trip and then return home and do nothing. Our youth are making plans to help the homeless within our county.

We were gently taken out of our comfort zone and challenged to see people as God sees them. The variety of ministry sites we went to enabled us to see and learn so many different things.
